Cavaliers Bonfire, Great Torrington

Helen Bailes made special work to be fired in the centre of the Castle Bonfire, which was seen in its full glory on The Old Bowling Green on Torrington Commons in August. She has done this in previous years.
In one night the flames and tremendous heat reduced all the hard work of the last two years to ashes, but like the phoenix out of the flames, clay was turned into pottery by the fire, creating pots to be treasured forever.
