I have been a professional artist for thirty years, primarily a watercolourist, specializing in marine studies of the working sail of North Devon, but also local landscapes, wildlife and portraits. I also teach at various venues up to six sessions per week, including at least one life-drawing class. During these classes I demonstrate various watercolour techniques and, during life-drawing sessions, the art of charcoal and pencil drawing.
Some classes are run on a private basis, others for Pilton Community College, for whom I’ve been teaching for several years at Newport Church Hall, Barnstaple. I exhibit regularly in North Devon, at various galleries and exhibitions such as the Westward Ho! and Bideford Art Society annual show at the Burton Gallery Bideford, the annual R.N.L.I. exhibition at North Devon Yacht Club (now in it’s twenty-fifth year), the Plough Arts Centre Torrington to name a few. My work is on permanent display at Saunton Sands Hotel in the main restaurant, Mr Peter Brend being a regular patron of mine.
